Soy isn’t as much of a health food as we have been lead to believe. Soy protein isolate, which is the soy product found in many “health” foods is potentially harmful to your health. Always read your label, and in addition to looking out for “Soy Protein Isolate” check for these names a well:

Here are a few other names soy tends to hide under:

  • Mono-diglyceride
  • Soya, Soja or Yuba
  • TSF (textured soy flour) or TSP (textured soy protein)
  • TVP (textured vegetable protein)
  • Lecithin
  • MSG (monosodium glutamate)

90-95 percent of the Soybeans grown in the US are GMO and designed to be “Roundup Ready” which means that are designed to be able to withstand large amounts of the pesticide Roundup. The active ingredient in roundup is a hormone disruptor and which can have dire effects on your health. Among them are:

  • Breast enlargement (gynecomastia)
  • Decreased facial and body hair growth
  • Decreased libido
  • Mood swings and frequent crying jags
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Lowered sperm count
  • Infertility
  • Low libido
