Sitting Too Much
We have become too sedentary. Many Americans spend the majority of their days sitting at desks and adults are not the only ones who have succumb to this modern lifestyle habit. Children also spend much of their days sitting at desks while in school.
Prolonged periods of uninterrupted sitting causes restricted blood vessels in adults, in addition to a variety of other health problems. Recent research tells us that children are not that physiological different than adults and prolonged sitting can be damaging to their health as well. Just three hours of sitting in children or adults can begin to take a toll on the body, effecting a variety of systems. It can lead to:
- organ damage
- digestive issues
- increased risk of colon cancer
- brain damage
- muscle degeneration
