Do Whitening Strips Damage Teeth?

There has been concern that the long term use of popular tooth whitening strips can cause permanent damage to the tooth’s dentin, the smile-191626_1920layer just beneath the enamel. However, dentists say that there is no evidence that long term use of teeth whitening strips, causes tooth damage. Whitening strips do cause sensitivity especially in younger people, but the pain typically goes away once the strips are no longer used.

Dr. Denis Kinane, Dean at the University of Pennsylvania Dental school says aggressive brushing can actually do more damage to tooth structure than whitening products.
